Guided Wave Testing (GWT)

Guided Wave testing (GWT), commonly known as Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT) is a method which employs mechanical stress waves that propagate along an elongated structure while guided by its boundaries. This allows the waves to travel a long distance with little loss in energy.

Guided Wave testing has several advantages:

  • Reduction of costs when the pipeline inspections have difficult access
  • Allow to inspect remote areas, out of area or areas very difficult to reach such as (bridges, road or train crossing).
  • Details of the integrity of the material are quickly obtained using only one access point.
  • Inspection costs are reduced because the method can detect exactly where the critical points to be inspected are located.

It’s possible a long term monitoring of the plants. In such a way all the costs for the long plant inactivity for maintenance are reduced.
With GWT is possible to inspect pipelines with operating temperature between -196°C and + 300°C
With our rings we can inspect lines from 2” up to 48” diameter.
